Full steam ahead for Borders Railway

The first tracks will be installed for the new Borders Railway today. The laying of the tracks marks the final phase of work on the longest domestic rail track to be built in the UK for more than 100 years.

Work has begun to lay track along the route of the new Borders Railway.

It's a major milestone for the project, which is still on track to be running by September next year. Scottish Transport Minister Keith Brown joined Network Rail bosses to officially launch this important phase of the project this morning.
