Two men were convicted of football related offences on Monday at Carlisle Magistrates Court and York Magistrates Court.

Michael Junior Green, 20, of Marks Avenue Carlisle, pleaded guilty at Carlisle Magistrates Court and was given a 3 year football banning order. He was one of the 12 arrested at the Hartlepool United v Carlisle United game on 29 August.

Scott Dixon, 27, of Linton Close Carlisle, received a 3 year football banning order at York Magistrates. Dixon was arrested at York City v Carlisle United on 19 September.

Superintendent Justin Bibby said

The vast majority of those who attend football matches are friends and families who just want to enjoy the game. Unfortunately there are a minority who have other intentions and engage in behaviour that can spoil the occasion for others.

We work alongside the clubs to deal with the anti-social behaviour and convictions such as these demonstrate our commitment to put those responsible before the courts where they may have to deal with the consequences for a number of years.”
