Man jailed for glassing woman in Carlisle nightclub

Liam McGrath

A man has been jailed for six years after glassing a woman in a Carlisle nightclub and leaving her scarred for life.

Liam McGrath, 36, used a bottle to strike Leanne Walker several times on the head at Outrageous in English Street during the early hours of 2 August.

Having pleaded guilty to wounding Miss Walker with intent to cause her grievous bodily harm, McGrath was sentenced today at Carlisle Crown Court.

The court was told he was so drunk he could not remember an attack which left his victim with two significant wounds to her forehead.

McGrath, of Greenmill Road, Longtown, was sent immediately to prison by Recorder Jeremy Lasker.

The judge told him: "You should be ashamed of what you have done to that lady."
