A public-drop in session is being held for people to give their views on plans to close Staveley fire station.
Cumbria County Council has put forward proposals to close five fire stations across the county including Staveley in a bid to save more than £300,000.
The council says adequate cover can be provided from other fire stations and the five at risk of closure are no longer needed but the Fire Brigades Union argue closures could put lives at risk.
?The consultation event is being held at Staveley Village Hall on Tuesday 8 December, from 12 noon to 7pm and will provide an opportunity for members of the public to ask questions and give comments and feedback on the proposals.
Comments can also be made on the county council’s website at https://cumbria.citizenspace.com/cumbria-county-council/environment/cumbria-fire-rescue-service-draft-integrated-risk
The consultation runs until Friday 22 January.
