Farmer 'crushed against wall' by cattle

A 71-year-old farmer has been hospitalised after being "crushed against a wall" by cattle.

The incident happened at Kirkby Stephen at around 8am this morning.

The man had sustained head, facial, chest and abdomen injuries and was assessed and treated by a doctor-led trauma team from the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

He was flown to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough within 16 minutes, where he arrived in a serious but stable condition.
