Junior doctors begin two-day strike

Junior doctors in Cumbria, and around the country, will begin a two day strike at 8am on Tuesday 26 April.

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt says the strike will risk the safety of patients.

Junior doctors set to strike in Cumbria

Junior doctors in Cumbria are taking part in two days of strike action from 8am this morning.

It's part of a national dispute over pay and conditions, and the imposition of a new contract.

Hospital management in North and West Cumbria say no operations have been cancelled but more than eighty outpatient appointments have been postponed.
