An 80-strong choir made up of young people from Dumfries and Galloway and German twin-town Gifhorn are putting on a free concert.

The performance takes place at St John's Church in Dumfries at 6pm on Sunday

As part of their longstanding twinning relationship members of Dumfries and Galloway Regional Youth Choir are welcoming 40 young people from the Gifhorn Twin-Town Singers to Scotland to participate in a residential choral workshop in Stirling.

The choirs are working together on a variety of Christmas music over a four day period before heading to Dumfries for the concert.

As well as working on their music, the young people will participate together in various activities including quizzes, a ceilidh, and visits to a range of tourist attractions.

“This twinning relationship was first established in 2009. Since then, it has flourished with many long-term friendships made.

"Music is the common language that unites us. We really hope that a large audience comes along to St John’s on Sunday to enjoy what will be a fabulous choral experience.”
