Three arrested after cyclist knocked down by car

Three people have been arrested, after a cyclist was knocked down by a car on the B5345 at St Bees.

At around 2pm yesterday (2 April) a green Ford Focus collided with a bike being cycled by a 48-year-old man, who was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, and aggravated taking without consent.

Two others - a 21-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman - were also arrested on suspicion of aggravated taking without consent.

All three have been released on police bail, and police are urging any witnesses to contact them on 101.
