Visitors are urged to avoid ward 4b at the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven, due to an outbreak of norovirus.

A small number of patients at the hospital have been infected, and staff are working hard to contain the outbreak of the contagious virus.

All visitors are asked not to visit the ward - apart from end of life patients and those for whom, at the discretion of the ward staff, it is felt that visiting is essential.

Visitors are also asked to avoid coming to any part of the hospital, if they or their family members have had diarrhoea, vomiting or ‘flu-like’ symptoms in the last two days.
