Cumbria parents urged to apply for school transport

Parents who require transport for their primary or secondary school children are being urged to apply for a place on the school bus before the deadline.

Cumbria County Council say the transport will begin at the start of the 2017 school year.

The free transport will be available to pupils who are up to the age of eight and live more than two miles away from their qualifying school or catchment. The transport will also be available for free for pupils over the age of eight who live more than three miles away.

Other children may be entitled to financial help with school transport if they are already entitled to free school meals or their family receive the maximum level of working tax credit.

Applications close on Friday, 30 June. Outcomes will be given within three-four weeks.
