110 new, used and vintage leather jackets were stolen from a clothing factory in the Borders on Monday, 10 July

The jackets, valued at around £100,000 were taken from Aero Leather Clothing on Huddersfield Street in Galashiels around 2am.

The theft marks the second high-scale theft the factory has experienced in the last five years.

Obviously we're shell shocked by the whole thing. And we've just got over a similar high scale theft in the factory, which was an internal job five years ago. It took us four years to get over that, with the police investigation and court procedures. If anyone's got information, even if they think it's trivial, or if they come across leather jackets they should contact the police."

– Denny Calder, Director, Aero Leather Clothing

Around half of the jackets which were stolen were ready to be shipped globally to customers.

Anyone with more information is urged to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0722.
