Lynne Herald, aged 40, of Beckgreen, Egremont, was sentenced to 160 days imprisonment at West Cumbria Magistrates’ Court earlier this month, 4 August 2017.

She was jailed following an incident on 6 May where a member of the public contacted police over suspicions she had travelled to the Co-op store at Egremont under the influence, where she was found to be four times over the legal limit.

Herald was also convicted for driving a vehicle without insurance while disqualified. The investigating officer says driving under influence of alcohol or drugs will not be tolerated:

Herald may have only travelled a relatively short distance, but it is only due to luck that there was no collision where someone could have been injured. The fact she is a repeat offender only further highlights her disregard for the law."
