Man seriously injured after M6 crash

A man is in hospital with serious injuries after a crash on the M6 near Penrith.

It happened around 7:15pm on Monday 30 July.

The 60-year-old man was driving a Mitsubishi pick-up which left the northbound carriageway between junctions 40 and 41.

He was flown to the James Cook hospital in Middlesbrough with serious injuries. His condition is now said to be stable.

His female passenger was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.
