Part of the A596, Curzon Street in Maryport, is closed in both directions due to an unsafe building.
The section of road has been closed since about 3pm on Wednesday 1 August, after masonry was seen falling from a building near the Co-op store.
Allerdale council notified Connect Roads, which manages the A596 for the county council, and it took the decision to close the road.
The road closure is from the Station Street junction to the entrance of the Co-Op store. Pedestrian access remains and all businesses are open.
Vehicles can still access Station Street from Curzon Street, Mill Street Car Park and Senhouse Street.
Traffic is being diverted via Mealpot Road.
