Police investigate further remembrance charity thefts

Over remembrance weekend £150 was taken from the charity shop at St Mary's Greyfriars Church in Dumfries.

Volunteers run the shop to support local good causes including those caring for war veterans, their widows and dependents.

Janet McSherry, who manages the shop, discovered that the money was missing on Monday morning.

Members of the church are struggling to understand why people feel the need to steal from charity at a time when people are remembering great sacrifice and service.

This comes after a gang of four targeted poppy collection tins last week.

Police are appealing for more information in order to catch those responsible. Please contact Police Scotland on 101.
