Work set to start on £3 million rail upgrade

Rail passengers in west Cumbria are being advised to plan ahead over the next six weekends as work to upgrade the Cumbrian coast line takes place.

Network Rail is investing £3 million to replace 5,000 yards of track to provide faster and more reliable journeys for passengers.

Buses will replace trains between Silecroft and Bootle every Sunday from 6 January until 10 February 2019.
