A man has been charged with attempted murder following an incident on King Street, Wigton, outside the Throstles Nest pub.
Police were called to an incident involving two men and a woman at 10:23pm on Friday night.
A local man in his 20s sustained a serious facial injury caused by a knife. He remains in The Cumberland Infirmary in a serious but stable condition.
A local woman in her 40s sustained a serious head injury not believed to life-changing, she has since been discharged from hospital.
39-year-old Scott Topping from Wigton, has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a bladed article, common assault and threatening a person in a public place with a bladed article.
He remains in police custody and is due to appear at Workington Magistrates on April 15, 2019.
