The Scouts have set up a new group in one of the most deprived areas of Sheffield with the aim of getting its diverse community to integrate.
Local MP Harry Harpham says he is pleased to see the scheme come to the area.
The group is based at Owler Brook Primary School in Page Hall and it is creating 100 new places for Cubs and Scouts in Sheffield, with the aim of setting up similar groups across the country. The Page Hall area has been chosen because of tensions since the arrival of large numbers of Slovakian Roma families.
Scout leaders say their aim is to encourage children to work and play together through doing activities such as cooking, rock climbing and making dens.
