A women's football team from Sheffield is collecting bags full of food for some of the city's most needy families.

AFC Unity use all their games they've used it to collect food parcels.

The donations of food come from the players, their families and even their opponents.

The 50 kilograms or so that arrives each game goes to the Sheffield Food Collective to distribute.

They in turn pass it on to individual food banks who then give it to those most in need.

The team's campaign has been so successful they now hope some professional teams take up the idea and ask their own supporters to donate in the same way.

While we're passionate about winning we're about so much more than that. We're about helping people, reaching out to the community and embracing it. The momentum for the campaign and the support that we've had has really built over time. We've had donations from local schools. We've had even our opposition coming along and donating food at games which is really fantastic because, you know, we don't necessarily ask them to do that. They do it off their own backs and and it's fantastic.
