Campaign launched to raise awareness of domestic abuse

Rebecca Kowell was murdered eight years ago

A campaign in North Yorkshire is trying to raise awareness of the impact that domestic abuse can have on the whole family.

Rebecca Kowal was murdered by her boyfriend in 2008, leaving behind a young daughter.

Rebecca's brother says noticing the changing behaviour of children can help to identify when violence is taking place behind closed doors.

People's personality changes, they become insular, they break down in tears all the time, and people need to try and identify that there could be a problem in the home situation. Children could be affected directly by domestic abuse, or indirectly they could be witnessing it, they could be hearing it, as quite often they do.
