A van belonging to suspected fly tippers has been put though a crusher at a scrap yard in Keighley.

The Ford Transit - linked to several offences of tipping - was destroyed by Bradford Council under tough new laws.

The uninsured van was found with a load of waste inside and the owner failed to come forward despite being given a fortnight to do so.

“Fly-tipping is a dreadful blight on our community and we are determined to try our best to catch the criminals who try to get away with dumping rubbish. We now have more legislation at our disposal to combat fly tipping but our greatest allies in this battle are members of the public. If you see fly-tipping taking place, please note down as many details as possible, including the vehicle licence plate number and inform the Council.”
