Fears overnight children's ward closure puts lives at risk

Lives are being put at risk following a decision to close the children's ward at Bassetlaw Hospital overnight, claim some families from Worksop.

Hundreds of residents attended two public meetings this weekend. Many are concerned they will now face driving up to 20 miles to other hospitals to access care out of hours.

The hospital trust behind the move says it is as a result of staff shortages and for safety reasons.

It also says it will not be reopening the ward at night anytime soon. Kate Hemingway reports:
