Man who left puppy with broken bones jailed

A man who left a puppy with multiple fractures after beating it over a period of three weeks has been jailed for 18 weeks, and banned from keeping animals for life.

Nasim Hussein Khan of Scopsley Green, Whitley appeared before Huddersfield Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to three animal welfare offences.

The RSPCA say the American Bulldog puppy was found with a fractured pelvis, spine, rib and foot and a swollen head which, according to a vet, was the result of a skull fracture.

In mitigation, the court heard that he was going through a difficult time due to troubles in his personal life.

Bonny, now renamed ‘Daphne’, was signed over at a previous hearing and has now been adopted by the person who fostered her.
