Former Premier League footballer Peter Beagrie has appeared in court accused of attacking his ex-girlfriend.
Beagrie, who played for 10 clubs including Bradford City and Scunthorpe United, has been charged with three assaults on Zarah Blake.
The alleged attacks are said to have taken place in Harrogate and in Killinghall close to the town between November last year and April. He is alleged to have punched her in the face and arm, kicked her in the ribs and pulled her hair.
Harrogate Magistrates Court heard that the 51 year-old had had a two-year relationship with the alleged victim.
Beagrie, who lives in Killinghall, pleaded not guilty to three charges of assault by beating.
He was given conditional bail and will stand trial in August. Beagrie enjoyed a 23-year playing career and in recent years has worked as a TV football pundit.
