The furniture giant Ikea is building an outlet on the site of the old Tinsley wire factory off Sheffield Road near Meadowhall.

The store has been several years in the planning.

The Swedish flat pack furniture giant said the retail roles will see the total number of staff employed in the UK rise to 11,700.

As we continue to expand, we're delighted to bring investment to new areas across the country and create new opportunities for local communities.

This year we are celebrating Ikea's 30th anniversary in the UK, and we are seeing more demand from customers for more stores in areas closer to where they live."
