Third arrest in review of 2015 murder of Wakefield man whose body was found on banks of river

A third person has been arrested in connection with the murder of a man from Wakefield who was found dead two years ago.

Stephen Pollard, 58, was reported missing from his home on February 27 2015 and his body was found on the banks of the River Aire, between Beal and Birkin in North Yorkshire, on May 22 the same year.

Police initially treated the death as not suspicious but a review led to the case being reopened.

A 51-year woman, who is from York, has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender following the arrests of two men from York, aged 24 and 52, on suspicion of murder.

All three suspects have been released pending further enquiries.
