A 71-year-old grandfather from North Yorkshire, who's turned his garden shed into an indoor cycling hub, is urging older people to take up the sport ahead of this year's Tour de Yorkshire.

Roy Reynolds, who lives near Richmond, is one of thousands of cyclists to embrace virtual reality apps such as Zwift in which riders hook their bikes up to high-tech trainers to ride against other people online.

The retired engineer says he cycled more than 5,000 miles last year - half of which was done in his shed. Advances in indoor training technology are also making their way into the region's gyms.
