Yorkshire tourism worth £8 billion

Yorkshire Tourism is worth £8 billion to the county's economy according to new research.

The news was unveiled at Welcome to Yorkshire’s Y18 conference at Bradford’s Alhambra Theatre this morning.

The figures come from new independent research carried out by Sheffield Hallam University.

Welcome to Yorkshire also unveiled multi million pound marketing campaigns to boost tourism, which will see the county promoted both domestically and globally.

Will be spent to promote the North York Moors, with a million to be spent in the next 18 months.
Has been pledged from the Discover England Fund to promote Yorkshire both domestically and globally.
Bookable tourism products will be created to target travellers in Germany and Netherlands.
Bradford's food and drink scene will come to life with new trails, offers and reviews.

It’s fantastic news that tourism in Yorkshire is now worth an incredible £8 billion to the county’s economy.

Add to that the record breaking visitor numbers that many of our top attractions have had and it just goes to show just how strong the Yorkshire brand really is.
