M62 at Goole closed in both directions after serious crash

The M62 near Goole is closed in both directions following a major accident between junctions 36 and 37.

It happened at around half past nine this morning when police say a lorry which was travelling westbound went through the central reservation and collided with an oncoming car heading eastbound.

There are huge traffic jams and motorists are being urged to avoid the area.

We understand that drivers have already been caught up in traffic jams leading up to the collision. We would ask them to be patient and remain in their vehicles for safety reasons and to allow emergency services to carry out their work.

Both carriageways are closed while emergency crews are on the scene. They are expected to remain shut for the most of the day.
