The jury in the trial of two men accused of planning a Christmas terror attack have been discharged after they failed to reach a verdict at Sheffield Crown Court.
Andy Star, 32, from Chesterfield, and Farhad Salah, 23, from Sheffield, were both arrested during early morning raids in December last year.
Both men pleaded not guilty to charges of preparing an act of terrorism.
The jury retired to consider its verdicts a week ago and returned to court on Wednesday after nearly 17 hours of deliberation.
The foreman told Judge Paul Watson QC they could not reach a verdict in relation to either defendant and they were discharged.
The court was told that the Crown Prosecution Service will be seeking a retrial of both men.
Judge Watson said the case will return to court at a date to be fixed and both men were remanded in custody.
