Emil Gruia appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday 16 November 2018 after being convicted by a jury following a five-day trial.

The 25 year old, of Bowbridge Road, followed a woman home in Newark in February last year before punching her to the floor and sexually assault her. A month later he struck again, befriending a woman in a nightclub before coercing her into going down an alleyway with him and raping her.

Gruia who denied the offences was also ordered to sign the Sex Offender's Register indefinitely.

Gruia is a dangerous sexual predator who showed no remorse towards his victims. We're pleased with this strong sentence and hope that the victims can now move on from their ordeals. Sexual violence of any kind is not acceptable and we encourage people to report incidents to us so we can bring these offender's to justice."
