Government pledges extra £15m for railways across the north after summer chaos
The government has pledged an extra £15 million pounds for improvements to the railways across the north after a summer of disruption.
More than a million pounds has been paid in compensation after thousands of trains were cancelled or delayed when a new timetable was introduced.
Network Rail will work with Transport for the North and passenger groups to decide how best the money should be spent on improving journeys.
