Scunthorpe woman devastated after locket containing late mother's ashes is stolen during break-in

A woman has been left distraught after a locket that contains her mum's ashes was stolen during a break-in.

Although many expensive items including laptops and watches were taken from Roxanne Maud's house in Scunthorpe, losing the silver heart-shaped locket was what upset her most.

Roxanne's mother Susan passed away 14 years ago due to cancer.

The burglary happened on Wednesday at the house, on the Timberlands estate in Scunthorpe, while Roxanne and her partner were at work.

Her sister, Rochesca Moody, posted a Facebook appeal pleading for those responsible to find their conscience and return the locket, along with the ashes it contains.

The appeal has so far been shared more than 1,300 times since it was posted.

"Absolutely devastated, I fell to my knees when I realised it had gone and just sobbed. I'd lost everything that meant everything to me."

"You go to work, you lock your door, you close your window and you think your house is safe and all your posessions are safe and they come and take everything and you're left heartbroken."

"I feel like I've lost my mum all over again, so I'm going through a bit of a grieving, because I feel like she's gone again."
