Today, Thursday 27 December, a 39-year-old man has been jailed at Hull Magistrates Court for assaulting two officers on Christmas Eve.

Aaron Wilson from Astoria Court in Bridlington pleaded guilty and was sentenced under the new Emergency Services Act to four months for the two assaults which happened on Gordon Road in Bridlington.

He has also been charged with three counts of criminal damage on cars during the incident which were also taken into account.

Another man has been charged in connection with an assault on an officer on Christmas Day in Scunthorpe.

21-year-old Callum Watson of Searby Road, Scunthorpe has been charged with assaulting on officer and two counts of criminal damage. He has been bailed to appear at Grimsby Magistrates Court in April next year.

Humberside Police have said they will continue to highlight assaults on officers, recognising the support they have had from the communities about how unacceptable this is.
