Morrisons announces fourth Xmas of sales growth

Yorkshire supermarket chain Morrisons has announced its sales were up 3.6 per cent over Christmas.

The supermarket, which has its headquarters in Bradford, released the figures which exclude fuel for the last nine weeks of trading this morning.

This is Morrisons' fourth consecutive Christmas of like-for-like sales growth during the turnaround.

On Monday, shops cut the prices of 935 products by an average of 20% in a bid to attract budget-conscious post-Christmas shoppers.
