15-year-old stabbed in shoulder at Beckfoot Thornton School in Bradford

A 15-year-old boy has been stabbed at Beckfoot Thornton School in Bradford.

The teenager was stabbed in the shoulder just before 12pm today.

He was taken to hospital for treatment but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

West Yorkshire Police said a male of similar age had been arrested and a knife had been recovered from the scene.

The Headteacher, Mr J Richardson, at Beckfoot Thornton School in Bradford said:

There has been an incident at school today in which one of our students has been injured. The student is with his family and receiving the necessary medical attention. Another of our students is with the police and they have started a detailed investigation.

"We continue to take advice from the police and are working to re-assure our school community who are understandably concerned to hear this news. The safety of our students is our highest priority and we know our school community will need to understand how this could have happened.

"We are unable to comment further at this time as we need to establish the details before we can reach any conclusions.

"We will do our best to keep you informed when we know more.

"Year 11 Saturday school is on as normal on Saturday morning.

"School is open as normal on Monday 1st April 2019."
