Vaisakhi celebrations take place in Leeds

It is one of the most important dates in the Sikh Calendar and Vaisakhi was celebrated in Leeds today (Saturday April 20) with a parade which started at the Sikh temple in Chapeltown and ended with celebrations in Millennium Square.

It is a celebration of the first initiation ceremony in 1699 and also a day when many Sikhs choose to be baptized into the Khalsa brotherhood.
