Steven Clarke, who's twenty-one, was sentenced to four years in prison at Hull Crown Court yesterday after admitting attempting to supply cocaine to the girls and to sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.

Humberside Police praised the girls' bravery and determination for coming forward to see Clarke punished for what he did to them.

None of them had ever used Class A drugs before but he persuaded them all to try cocaine. Once they were addicted he used this to control them, telling them he deserved sexual favours from them in exchange for giving them access to drugs and alcohol.

Not only were the girls being sexually exploited by Clarke, but their addiction began to impact on other areas of their lives. Family relationships broke down and they lost out on their education.

The impact his actions have had on them cannot be underestimated and I am so proud of the steps they have taken to rebuild their lives.

– Detective Constable Nicola Gibbs, Humberside Police

She added that she hopes the sentence will encourage all victims of exploitation and sexual assault to come forward.
