Man arrested after two motorists die following serious incident on M1 involving three vehicles

A 39-year-old man from Hull has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, after two motorists died in a collision this morning.

Emergency services were called to reports of a three-vehicle crash near the M1's Tinsley Viaduct in Sheffield at around 8.15am on Friday.

South Yorkshire Police said that a lorry, van and car were involved in the collision, which occurred on the northbound carriageway.

The force said that two men died at the scene and a man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in custody.

The road has been closed in order for investigations to take place.

A force spokesman added that the families of both men had been informed of the incident.
