Public inquiry over Ineos plans for shale gas drilling at Woodsetts gets underway
A public inquiry has started into whether a chemical company should be allowed to carry out exploratory drilling in a South Yorkshire village.
Ineos wants permission to conduct tests for shale gas in Woodsetts near Rotherham - in a process which could pave the way for fracking.
The company appealed to the planning inspectorate after its plans were rejected twice by councillors.
Residents in Woodsetts, crowdfunded to help pay for a lawyer to oppose the application.
