Woman and two men charged with attempted murder over Heckmondwike arson attack

Detectives investigating an arson attack on a house in Heckmondwike have charged two men and a woman with attempted murder.

Officers were called to a property in the town at 4.13am on Sunday August 11, to a report of a fire.

A woman and her three children managed to escape the blaze, but the eldest, aged 17, was taken to hospital suffering serious burns after jumping from an upstairs window. His condition is described as critical but stable.

Mohammed Iftikhar, 45, of Mortimer Avenue, Batley; Vishal Thapar, 31, of Brooke Street, Cleckheaton; and Semia Hussain, 25, of Hawthorne Avenue, Batley; are all due to appear at Leeds Magistrates court this morning (Saturday, 24 August).
