A man charged with murdering a 21 year old student found injured in Huddersfield has refused to leave his cell for a court hearing.
Paul Crowther, 35, was due to appear at Leeds Crown Court today in connection with the death of Bethany Fields.
Miss Fields, from Leeds, suffered fatal injuries in an incident on Fitzwilliam Street on Thursday night.
Crowther, of Elm Way in Birstall, is charged with murder and possession of a bladed article but has not yet entered pleas.
Prosecutor Mark McKone told the court: "He has elected not to attend court today."
A plea and trial preparation hearing was listed for October 31.
A trial, which would be expected to last at least five days, was provisionally listed for March 2 next year.
No application was made for bail during the brief hearing.
Crowther was ordered to remain in custody until the next hearing.
