A couple from Grimsby have recreated their wedding photos to celebrate being married for half a century.

Chris and Pat Kuhlman rolled back the years by returning to the Grimsby Register Office to mark the special occasion.

They met at school when they were 13 and have been together since. They married when Pat was 17 and Chris was 18 on October 11, 1969 and went on to have two children.

There was no smooth talking involved, I just asked her out because that's how it was done in those days. We're not bored of each other and it’ll be like that forever, I've no doubt.

Everyone told us that this wouldn’t last, our parents told us we were too young to make this work, but we’re the only ones in the family that have stayed together.

We wouldn't know what to do without one another, it's all about enjoying what you can while you can.

– Chris Kuhlman

After getting married on a Saturday, Chris and Pat went straight back to work on the Monday, without going on a honeymoon. Five decades on, they are now planning a big holiday to mark their golden anniversary, with a two-week cruise to the Caribbean.
