Drivers have been stuck in traffic chaos on the M1 in South Yorkshire after a pedestrian was killed last night.
A 25-year-old died after a collision with a car in the fast lane, just before midnight.
The motorway was closed in both directions between junction 35A and 36 near Tankersley, South Yorkshire, throughout most of Saturday, leading to traffic jams in surrounding roads.
Emergency services were called at 11:52pm on Friday night following reports that a black Mercedes CLA had been involved in a collision with a pedestrian in the third lane of the carriageway between junction 35A and 36 Northbound.
The pedestrian, a 25 year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His family are being supported by specially trained officers.
Police are urging witnesses to come forward.
