Firefighters rescued puppy Jasper near Riddlesden yesterday afternoon, after he got trapped beneath boulders underground.
The King Charles Spaniel wandered off the beaten track and got stuck in a fox hole under rocks. Cleckheaton Technical Rescue team hatched a plan to save the lost pup and initiated... Mission Possible!
Crews dug tunnels and used a specialist camera to pinpoint exactly where Jasper was. This picture shows the pup trapped in a chamber 4 metres inside and 2 metres down.
Fire crews dug through the rocks and into the chambers of the fox’s lair in order to reach him. A firefighter then crawled in under the rocks and once they had hold of the dog – both were pulled out.
The rescue took around 3 and a half hours in total.
Jasper the spaniel was none the worse for his ordeal and was passed to a very grateful owner.
