University of Sheffield cancels 'face to face' teaching after member of staff tests positive for Coronavirus

No face-to-face teaching at unviersity

The University of Sheffield is to suspend face-to-face teaching after a member of staff tested positive for Coronoavirus.

The suspension comes into force from Monday, meaning there will be no face-to-face lectures, seminars or tutorials - with plans in place to deliver teaching online.

The University says it is also aware of a small number of unrelated suspected student cases of the virus. It has released the following statement.

We want to assure students and staff that the risk of the virus having passed on to other people on campus is low and the University’s COVID-19 Management Group is working with Public Health England (PHE) and following government guidelines in terms of appropriate next steps.

All university-related international travel is postponed or cancelled with immediate effect.The best defence to prevent the spread of coronavirus continues to be good hand hygiene practices.We ask that you bookmark this page and check frequently for updates.
