The RSPCA was called on Monday 20 April after a member of the public’s dogs alerted her to the trapped animal in the drain on Shelley Road.

RSPCA Animal Welfare Officer Liz Braidley, who is also one of the RSPCA’s specialist wildlife officers, said:

He was about 2ft down the drain, so it was a difficult rescue as I could only just reach him with my fingertips, and it took a good 15 minutes of gentle wriggling with some tongs to get him out.

Liz also replaced the drain cover to try to prevent any repeat incidents.
