Surge in number of people claiming unemployment benefit across region

The number of people claiming unemployment benefit in our region has increased sharply since March, according to official figures out today.

Doncaster and Barnsley are among the top ten cities in the UK to have taken the hardest hit since the lockdown.

They have seen the number of claimants go up by between 2.5 % and 2.8%.
