York's hopes to become Britain's first clean air city

York is planning to bid to become Britain's first official clean air city as the council aims to continue the benefits seen during lockdown.

The government would provide funding for a range of measures including increased cycle lanes and banning non-electric cars from the city centre.

The council says York is well-placed to take up the title.
