A five year old girl who was seriously ill with a rare syndrome linked to Covid-19, has returned home.

Scarlett Nicholas, from Wakefield, was put on a ventilator at Pinderfield's Hospital.

She was diagnosed as having similarities to Kawasaki syndrome, which mainly affects children under the age of five, with symptoms including a high temperature, rashes, swelling and a toxic shock style response.

Medical experts believe up to 100 children in the UK have been affected from a condition similar to Kawasaki disease.

Scarlett has been discharged from hospital and is now recovering at home.
